In 1989 the team from Minneapolis-based Fallon visited the then 80 year old Ferry Porsche at his home in Zell am See, Austria to produce what became some very memorable TV ads. I wrote about it in 2009 and later reposted it here.

Here are the two ads in their long form. Independence is interesting in light of where Porsche is today. Certainly in a form Ferry Porsche could never have envisioned.  The well-known line about not being able to find the car he wanted so he decided to build it himself is thought to be hyperbole by Porsche experts like Karl Ludvigsen.  More likely is Porsche ramped up the car product line to keep the doors open and people employed.

Fallon lost the Porsche account in 1993 after what I think was some incredible work. Thankfully the business came back to Minneapolis a few blocks away to Carmichael Lynch in 1999. See my other posts on Nord Stern’s relationship with Fallon as well as Carmichael-Lynch.
