Ready to Hit the Track?
Driver Training is the route to safe, fast, fun!
Driver Training is a prerequisite for participating in PCA Driver Education events.
Completion of an equivalent program may be accepted. Check with the DE Chair or Chief Driving Instructor.
Our program is open to all; you don’t need a Porsche. Whether you bring a high-performance car or a family sedan, our certified instructors will teach you the optimal racing line and essential car control skills, enhancing both your track and everyday driving.
When and Where
We host two Driver Training schools annually: One in the spring and another in the fall. Both at BIR in Brainerd, MN.
What to Expect
Morning
Registration at 7:00 AM followed by an 8:00 AM driver meeting for intros and instructor assignments. Students then participate in track orientation laps, threshold braking, and slalom exercises to familiarize them with vehicle handling beyond street driving.
Afternoon
Alternating sessions of track lapping with your instructor and classroom sessions covering cornering concepts, braking techniques, shifting, and optimal driving lines.
Upon completion, students will receive a certificate qualifying them for PCA DE events.
Requirements
A qualified mechanic must inspect your car prior to the event. Bring a completed Tech form to registration.
A Snell certified auto racing helmet (SA2015 or newer) is required. If you’re undecided about future events, consider renting one.
Please note … our Driver Training and Education events focus on skill development and are non-competitive. For competitive driving, explore PCA Club Racing.
