PCA began Club Racing in 1992. Nord Stern held the 8th Club Race at Brainerd in 1993. Bob Fleming designed this logo for that first Brainerd Club Race.
Early in PCA’s Club Racing Program, trophies were discouraged. Nord Stern went tongue-in-cheek with these wool lumberjack-style hats for the two race winners in 1993 and continued for the next few years. Sourced in Bemidji.
Here are the race entry list and results. For the first few years there were two race groups. Basically a stock race and a modified race.
This was an interesting weekend. I couldn’t make it because of work commitments, but both Jeff and dad showed up. The shop was one of the sponsors of the first club race. Dad would have tire prolems, so Jeff gave him his race tires and withdrew after turning the fastest lap in practice in the silver 911 rsr originally built by Johnson Autosports, bought by Bill Groschen. Jeff rebuilt the engine and went thru the car, it had been neglected a bit. Dad went on to win his class, and as of that weekend was the oldest drive in PCA to win his class at a PCA club race.
I’ve added the race entry list and results to the post.
